
2004-05
A six day music festival was organized in the year 2005 which was named as the ‘Tarana Varusha Utsavam’. The festival was inaugurated by Chitravina Shri N. Narasimhan and Nadopasana Shri R. Srinivasan. The inaugural concert was performed by Smt. Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam along with Smt. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi and Tiruvarur Shri Vaidyanathan.
Since the year witnessed the sad demise of Vidushi Bharata Ratna Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi, the festival was dedicated to her memory. The concluding concert of the festival was held on 25th January, the 101st birthday of Gotuvadyam Narayana Iyengar, on the centenary year of whose memory CFA was founded. Aptly it was performed by his grand children, the Carnatica Brothers – Shashikiran and Chitravina P Ganesh.

Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam:
Six programmes were featured during this year's vaggeyakkara vaibhavam series. The compositions of devotional composers were exclusively taken up. A lecture and concert following it were held.

2006-07
December 2006 was another grand year for CFA with the twelve-day music festival. The festival featured concerts and lectures categorized under the themes of Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam, Visesha Vadyanubhava and Yuvakala Vaibhavam. A variety of artistes and scholars took part in the festival. Smt. Suguna Purushothaman, Dr. B.M. Sundaram and Shri Nadopasana Srinivasan were among the dignitaries who attended the inaugural function. The inaugural concert was a violin performance by the Akkarai Sisters Subbulakshmi and Swarnaltha.
Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam:
A lecture demonstration and a concert based on the topic of the lecture are the contents of a Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam programme. The lecture focuses on the compositions and contributions of a composer of Carnatic music. During the year under consideration, nine lectures and concerts were featured in Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam series.

2007-08
December 2007 was eventful for CFA with the twelve-day grand music festival. The festival featured concerts and lectures on the themes of Vaggeyakara Vaibhava, Visesha Vadyanubhava, Ragam Tanam Pallavi and Yuvakala Vaibhavam. A spectrum of artistes ranging from the veterans to the amateurs was part of the festival. Shri M. Krishnaswamy presided over the inaugural function. Shri Raghunathan of Bhimas Hotel Tirupathy was the Chief Guest and Shri Nadopasana Srinivasan was the Guest of Honor. Legal consultant Shri Parameswara Iyer lit the lamp. The inaugural concert was performed by Smt. Bushany Kalyanaraman.
Apart from the December festival, CFA also organized a special lecture on Nagasvaram on the 21st of July, 2007. Dr. B.M. Sundaram presented the lecture which was followed by an exclusive concert by Shri Kalyanapuram Srinivasan and party. The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Ramji of Makkal Kural. Noted musicians and musicologists like Dr. N. Ramanathan were among the dignitaries present.
Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam:
Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam aimed at exposing various great composers of Carnatic music apart from the well-known trinity, pre-trinity and post-trinity composers is held every year in which a lecture on the musical contributions of a particular composer is presented by a scholar. This is followed by the rendition of a few of his/her compositions. During the year under consideration, seven lectures and concerts were held categorized under Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam.

During 2008, the festival was classified under three major categories namely Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam, Visesha Vadyanubhava and RTP Festival. Chevalier Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function. Shri R. Kumar, Managing Director of Navin Housing Properties Pvt. Ltd., was the Guest of Honor and the felicitations were rendered by Vidvan Madurai G.S. Mani. Kumari K. Gayathri rendered the invocation song of the festival. The inaugural concert was performed by Smt. Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam along with Smt. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, Shri Kallidaikuruchi Sivakumar and Shri P.S. Ramanujam.

2009-10
The seventh year festival was exclusively for Ragam, Tanam and Pallavi. Vibrant young artistes rendered thought-provoking pallavis during the four day RTP festival. Dr. Sridhar, IAS, was the Chief Guest of this year's inaugural function. Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna presided over the function and Dr. B.M. Sundaram was the Guest of Honor. The inaugural concert was a violin duet performed by Prof. T.N. Krishnan and Smt. Viji Krishnan.

This festival was dedicated to the great musician and artiste Shri. S. Rajam who made outstanding contributions to music by way of his vocal renditions and also his thematic paintings.
Vidvan Shri Chitravina Narasimhan lit the lamp and inaugurated this year's festival. Shri Balasubramaniam, Chairman of City Union Bank was the Chief Guest and Shri N. Murali, President of Music Academy and Managing Director of The Hindu, presided over the function. Dr. B.M. Sundaram rendered felicitations to Violin wizard Shri V. Narasimhan, who was the recipient of the maiden Gotuvadyam Narayana Iyengar Award for Excellence. The inaugural concert was performed by the String Quartette, led by Shri V. Narasimhan.

2011-12
December 2011 saw a number of activities at the festival organized by Chennai Fine Arts. A total of twenty-four concerts and four lecture demonstrations were performed by veteran artistes and eminent scholars. The festival was classified under three major categories namely Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam, Visesha Vadyanubhava and Yuvakala Vaibhavam. The festival spanning twelve days began with a grand inauguration on the 21st of December 2011.
Shri. S.S. Jawahar, I.A.S., Commissioner of Art & Culture, Government of Tamil Nadu, presided over the function and Mrudangam Maestro Prof. Trichy Sankaran delivered the felicitation address. The inaugural concert was by Shri. R.K. Srikantan with Shri. R.S. Ramakanth, Chitravina Shri. N. Ravikiran, Srimushnam Shri. V. Rajarao and Trichy Shri. Murali.
Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam:
Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam aims at elucidating the works of various great composers of Carnatic music apart from the well-known trinity, pre-trinity and post-trinity composers. A program under this category comprises of a lecture on the musical contributions of a particular composer followed by the rendition of a few of his/her compositions. About fifty rare composers have been featured under this category in the festival of Chennai Fine Arts over the years.

Visesha Vadyanubhava:
Traditional instrument belonging to the south Indian classical music genre are featured in the concerts held under the category Visesha Vadyanubhava. In times when concerts of instrumental music are a rarity, Chennai Fine Arts ensures the upkeep of our cultural tradition by organizing concerts featuring instruments like Chitraveena, Veena, Jalatarangam, Mukhaveena and so on.

Balamurali Music Festival:
Chennai Fine Arts inaugurated the first-ever ‘Balamurali Music Festival’ named after the living legend Dr Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna, on Sunday, 5th August, 2012. This is one of the major events this year.

Centenarians’ Carnival
This year witnesses the rarest combination of the birth centenaries of eight great carnatic musicians. It includes Alathur Srinivasa Iyer, T K Rangachari, Madurai Mani Iyer, Brinda (vocalists), Mayavaram Govindaraja Pillai (Violinist), Palghat Mani Iyer (Mrudangam), Alangudi Ramachandran (Ghatam) and Mannargudi Sambasiva Bhagavatar (Vocalist, Composer and Harikatha artiste). To celebrate this unique occasion, Chennai Fine Arts organised the Centenarians’ Carnival. It was inaugurated on Friday, the 28th December, aptly by London Shri V G Sundaram, a connoisseur of music who completed 100 years of age this year.

Gotuvadyam Narayana Iyengar Music Festival
The grand music festival organised by Chennai Fine Arts commemorating the 110th birth anniversary of Gotuvadyam Narayana Iyengar as well as the tenth anniversary of the organisation was inaugurated on Monday, the 28th January. Senior vocalist Smt Suguna Purushothaman inaugurated the festival and delivered inaugural address. Mrudangam maestro Dr T K Murthy was presented the Gotuvadyam Narayana Iyengar Award for Excellence. Vidwan Kalaimamani Madras A Kannan presided over and presented the award. Renowned musicologist Dr B M Sundaram felicitated Dr T K Murthy and went down the memory lane to share rare information about him. Dr T K Murthy, in his acceptance speech, thanked CFA for presenting him the award. He also gave interesting anecdotes from his performance career spanning more than eighty years.

DIVINE COMPOSERS
CFA is known for its thematic presentations on composers (vaggeyakaras). Every year it organizes programs on many rare composers and documents them for archival, publications and future references. The event on divine composers was held between 4th and 10th December 2013 and it focused on eight composers namely Annamacharya, Badrachala Ramadas, Manambuccavadi Venkatasubbayya, Maha Vaidyanatha Sivan, Arunachala Kavi, Veena Seshanna, Mannargudi Sambasiva Bhagavatar and Tadepally Venkata Subrahmanya Sastri.
